How do I change my personal information (home address, e-mail address, beneficiaries, bank information, user name)?

You must be logged on to change your personal information. Click the My Accounts tab, then click the Account maintenance tab. There, you can view and change your home address, e-mail address, beneficiaries, and banking information. You can also update your personal profile, which includes your percentage of total assets at Vanguard and investment goals.

How do I change my mailing preferences for statements, reports, prospectuses, brokerage confirmations, or e-mail newsletters?

You must be logged on to change your mailing preferences.

Click the My Accounts tab, and then click the Account maintenance tab. Use the link under "Set my delivery preferences" to change how you receive statements, reports, prospectuses, proxy materials, and brokerage trade confirmations. You can also add or change e-mail newsletter subscriptions.

Your selections will be valid for any accounts for which you are listed as the primary holder, or any accounts for which you act as custodian, such as those established through the Uniform Gifts to Minors Act, the Uniform Transfers to Minors Act, or education savings accounts.

You can choose at any time to view your documents online instead of receiving them through the U.S. mail. Vanguard will send you an e-mail letting you know when your selected documents are available online.

Can I download account information to Intuit Quicken or Microsoft Money?

Yes. You can download Vanguard account data and recent transaction information into Intuit's Quicken and Microsoft Money. Once you've set up the Vanguard accounts you wish to track, this method allows you to update all of your accounts with one click. This service is available for Quicken 2007 (or later) on Windows and Macintosh computers, and Money 2007 for Windows only.

You can also download account information directly to your desktop as a Comma-Delimited File or Comma-Separated Value (.CSV) and import it into Microsoft Excel and most other spreadsheet programs. This feature is available for Windows and Macintosh computers.

Log on and download account information now.

For more information, read Downloading Account Information—Help.

How can I view a list of services that I've enrolled in?

You must be logged on to view this information. Click the My Accounts tab at the top of the screen, then click Overview. Any services you've enrolled in will appear under "My Services" on the right side of the screen. You can select a service from this list and be taken to that page. As you sign up for new services, they'll be added to this list.

How can I get the forms I need to manage my accounts?

You can find all of the forms, kits, and brochures associated with your accounts by clicking Forms in the utility bar. On the Forms & Literature page, you can access the forms you need for opening and maintaining your Vanguard accounts, and get prospectuses, applications, and reports for Vanguard mutual funds and variable annuity portfolios.

How do I add, remove, or change Vanguard account owners?

Let our Change of Ownership forms provide you with the appropriate forms and customized instructions to change the ownership of a Vanguard account. To access the form, type "Change of Ownership" in the search field.

How do I obtain a signature guarantee?

A signature guarantee verifies the authenticity of a signature. The guarantor (one who guarantees a signature) must be an officer of a bank or trust company or a broker who is a member of a recognized U.S. stock exchange. Also acceptable as guarantors are savings banks, savings and loans, credit unions, national securities exchanges, clearing agencies, and savings associations. The bank or broker (guarantor) vouches for the authenticity of a person's signature and takes on potential financial liability every time it guarantees a signature. A notary public cannot provide a signature guarantee. The guarantee must be dated within 30 days of receipt at Vanguard.

What is Consolidated View?

Consolidated View® allows Vanguard clients to view information on many of their banking, investment, and credit card accounts online. It includes the following features:

  • Outside Investments. A display of investments you hold with companies other than Vanguard. You can retrieve Outside Investments information electronically through Linked Online Accounts or enter it manually.
  • Linked Online Accounts. Part of Outside Investments, Linked Online Accounts can display information on your total financial picture, including investments, banking, and credit card accounts—as well as mortgages held by banks or credit unions—in addition to your Vanguard portfolio. It retrieves your outside account data electronically, and displays the information in a separate browser window, taking careful steps to protect your security. You can have your accounts updated automatically by storing your user names and passwords online or, if you prefer, you can type in this information each time you wish to update your accounts. Linked Online Accounts service is closed to new enrollments. However, shareholders who are currently enrolled in the service may continue to use it without interruption until otherwise notified by Vanguard. Certain employer retirement plans that have previously opted to make this service available to their participants may continue to offer it until otherwise notified by Vanguard.
  • Account Consolidation. Take advantage of our mutual funds and brokerage service by transferring your outside assets to Vanguard. You can transfer most stocks, bonds, and mutual funds you hold at other institutions to a Vanguard Brokerage Services® account without any tax consequences.

How do I add outside investments?

There are two ways to add accounts to your Outside Investments display:

  • Authorize us to retrieve your account information. If you set up Linked Online Accounts through Consolidated View, we often can retrieve and update your information electronically, as long as your outside financial institutions offer online access. The total of all assets shown on your Linked Online Accounts will be added to your Outside Investments total. Note that if you add a holding to your Linked Online Accounts and Outside Investments separately, it may be counted twice in your portfolio total. Click your Linked Online Accounts balance to select which accounts to include.
  • Type in your account information. You can type in your account information if your outside financial institutions don't offer online access or if you'd like to include account information they don't provide online. We'll track your balances based on the information you enter, but you're responsible for editing the account information if you buy or sell shares.
